Else Margrethe Nielsen blev født 18.01.1912 i Aalborg, som datter af arbejdsmand Niels Peter Nielsen og hustru Margrethe Christine Funder. Hun er lillesøster til Richard, Lauritz og Maria Christine, kaldet Lise.
